What Are Funnels?

Funnels let you define a sequence of steps a user should take and measure drop-off at each stage. This helps identify exactly where you're losing potential customers.

Creating a Funnel

  1. Go to Funnels in the sidebar.
  2. Click Create Funnel.
  3. Add steps in order (e.g., Page View → Bot Start → Subscribe → Purchase).
  4. Set the conversion window (how long a user has to complete the funnel).

Reading Funnel Data

  • Step conversion rate — percentage of users moving from one step to the next.
  • Overall conversion rate — percentage completing the entire funnel.
  • Median time between steps — how long users take at each stage.
  • Sankey diagram — visual flow showing where users go when they drop off.

Optimization Tips

  • Focus on the step with the highest drop-off rate first.
  • Compare funnels by traffic source to find your best-performing channels.
  • Use A/B testing on the weakest step.
